The Three Types of Packages Available
When browsing MobiMatter, you will generally find three different types of connectivity options:
1. Data-Only Packages (No Number) These eSIMs are built purely for internet connectivity. They do not come with a phone number and do not support traditional cellular calls or SMS.
How to identify: You will see a note stating: "This is a data-only eSIM. It does not come with a phone number."
2. Data eSIM with a Phone Number (No Allowance) In this case, your eSIM comes with an assigned phone number, but it does not include any prepaid minutes or SMS. While the number exists, you cannot use it to make outgoing calls or send texts unless the provider allows for a separate top-up.
How to identify: Look for the note: "This package does not include any minutes or SMS allowance."
3. Full Service Packages (Data, Voice, and SMS) These are comprehensive plans that include a phone number along with a dedicated allowance of calling minutes and text messages.
How to identify: These packages will display a Phone Icon and clearly list the included minutes and SMS in the description.
Staying Connected Without an eSIM Number
If your chosen plan doesn't include calling minutes, you have two great alternatives:
Use Messaging Apps: You can make crystal-clear voice and video calls using data-based apps like WhatsApp, Viber, Skype, Telegram, or FB Messenger.
Keep Your Primary Line: Because your phone can run two lines at once, you can keep your primary home SIM active for essential calls/SMS while using the MobiMatter eSIM for your data needs.
Important Note on App Registrations
Please be aware that even if an eSIM includes a phone number, using that number to register for third-party apps or websites is not guaranteed.Ā
