Does a Syria eSIM come with a phone number?
Most travel eSIMs, including most Syria plans, are data-only and have no local number. You keep your usual number on your main SIM for calls, texts and WhatsApp. Plans that include a number or minutes say so on the plan page.
Will my phone work with a Syria eSIM?
Yes, if it supports eSIM and is not locked to a carrier. To check, dial *#06#: if an EID number appears, your phone supports eSIM. Most iPhones from the XS/XR on, Galaxy S20 and later and Pixel 3 and later do, except most models sold in mainland China and some sold in Hong Kong and Macao.
Can I keep my own SIM and WhatsApp while using a Syria eSIM?
Yes. Your eSIM and your main SIM can be active at the same time. Use the eSIM for mobile data with data roaming on for that line, and turn data roaming off on your home SIM to avoid charges. WhatsApp keeps working on your usual number.

MobiMatters came highly recommended in family-oriented travel groups on social networks, when I was researching on travel eSIMs for Iceland. The first package I started with was a US + Europe - it was easy to activate before leaving home (and verifying), and then continue on landing in Reykjavik. Unthinkable speeds (given we are used to Verizon and TMobile in the US) - over 400 Mbps on the Fast app! Unlimited tethering options allowed me to use across my MacBook and phone, as well as share across the family with the kids on iPads and phones. Navigation on Google and Waze was aa breeze with the constant high speed data connectivity. Our plans did not support phones (we knew this) but with WhatsApp and FaceTime allowing audio and video calls we never felt the need for basic phone service. Customer service on email was responsive and helpful when I wanted to understand how top-ups work. Highly recommend MobiMatters - I’m on my third top-up as we speak!
