Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use my US phone in Italy?
Yes, if roaming is on for your line, but US carriers usually charge by the day. An unlocked phone that supports eSIM can instead use an Italian data plan on TIM, Vodafone, WindTre or Iliad, while your US number stays on for calls and texts. Check your own plan's terms: older or legacy plans may differ.

How do I get an eSIM for Italy?
The simplest way is to buy a travel eSIM online and install it at home, so it connects to TIM, Vodafone, WindTre or Iliad as soon as you land at Fiumicino, Venice Marco Polo or Naples. Mentions ItalyI used it in Italy in 2024 and in Spain in 2026, and I was very satisfied. The app has improved day by day, and I never experienced any issues. I don't know about other apps, but I highly recommend MobiMatter. I bought 15GB of internet in Spain, and even though I didn't use that much, I still have 10GB left.
